The data chunk follows the header at offset 14. Its ID is FLdt, and it
holds the whole project as a stream of events. The 1999 document notes that its length
does not include the chunk’s own 8-byte ID and length.
Fields
| Offset | Size | Type | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 14 | 4 | ASCII | ChunkID | Always FLdt (46 4C 64 74). |
| 18 | 4 | u32 | Length | The number of bytes of events that follow, little-endian. |
| 22 | Length | bytes | events | The event stream, one event after another. |
Checking the length
The header and the data chunk’s own ID and length take 22 bytes. If nothing follows the events, as in later files, then:
file size = data chunk length + 22
The 1999 document does not say whether anything may follow the data chunk, so a reader should stop at the end of the chunk rather than at the end of the file.
