Introduction
A .veg file is a project saved by
VEGAS Pro, the Windows video editor
first made by Sonic Foundry, later sold by Sony and now by MAGIX. The project records
the timeline: the video and audio tracks, the events placed on them, their envelopes,
transitions and effects, and the project settings.
As with other editing projects, the media is not inside the file; the project refers to it by path. Projects saved by a newer version of VEGAS Pro usually cannot be opened by an older one.
Structure
The file is binary, and its layout is not published. VEGAS Pro can also exchange timelines with other software through formats such as EDL and Final Cut Pro 7 XML.
