Introduction
An .org file is a document for Org mode,
the outliner and organiser for the GNU Emacs editor, started by Carsten Dominik in 2003.
People use it for notes, to-do lists, agendas, project plans and whole books, and it can
run code blocks inside the document and export to HTML, LaTeX, PDF and other formats.
The file itself is plain text that stays readable without Emacs.
Structure
An Org file is plain text, normally UTF-8. Headlines start with one or more
asterisks, one per level, and may carry a TODO keyword, a priority such as
[#A] and tags between colons. Lines such as #+TITLE: set
document settings, SCHEDULED: and DEADLINE: lines give dates
in angle brackets, and property drawers between :PROPERTIES: and
:END: store key and value pairs. Tables are rows between vertical bars,
and blocks such as source code sit between #+BEGIN_SRC and
#+END_SRC. Inline, *bold*, /italic/ and
[[link][description]] mark text.
#+TITLE: House move
