Introduction
A PPSX file is a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation saved to open straight into the slide show instead of the editor. It is used for presentations sent to people who only need to watch them, such as kiosk displays and slide shows passed around by email. Opening it from inside PowerPoint lets it be edited like any other presentation.
.ppsm is the same with macros. The older binary equivalent is
.pps, described with PPT.
Structure
A PPSX file is laid out exactly like a PPTX
package: a ZIP archive of XML parts with ppt/presentation.xml, one part per
slide, layouts, masters and media. The only difference is the content type of the main
part in [Content_Types].xml, which is
application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.presentationml.slideshow.main+xml
instead of the presentation type, so renaming a .ppsx file to
.pptx is usually enough for most programs to open it for editing.
