Introduction
A .logicx file is a project saved by
Logic Pro, Apple’s music production
software for the Mac, from Logic Pro X (2013) onwards. It holds the tracks, regions,
MIDI, mixer, plug-in settings and automation of a song, and can also hold the
project’s recordings and samples. Older versions of Logic used the
.logic and .lso extensions.
Apple does not publish the format, and only Logic Pro and its sister app MainStage read it fully.
Structure
A .logicx project is a macOS package: a folder that Finder shows as a
single file. Inside are one or more alternatives, which are saved variations of the
project, each with its own binary project data file and property lists of metadata.
When the project is saved with its media, the audio files, samples and other assets
are kept in folders inside the package too. The binary project data is
undocumented.
