A project from these versions has a single playlist. There is no New arrangement event: multiple arrangements arrived in version 12.9.1. The playlist events below belong to the project as a whole and can appear anywhere in the stream.
Playlist
| ID | Size class | Name | Holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0xE9 (233) | Data | Playlist items | Clips placed in the playlist, as 32-byte playlist items. |
| 0xD9 (217) | Data | Playlist selection | The selected part of the playlist. |
| 0x11 (17) | Byte | Time signature numerator | The project’s beats per bar. |
| 0x12 (18) | Byte | Time signature beat | The project’s beat value. |
| 0x98 (152) | Dword | Loop position old | The loop position, from FL Studio 1.3.8. |
| 0x81 (129) | Dword | Playlist item old | One pattern placed in the playlist: a word position and a word pattern number. Listed in Image-Line’s 1999 description; whether these versions still write it is not recorded. |
The playlist has 199 tracks. The track an item sits on is stored counted backwards from the last one; see Track numbers.
Tracks
| ID | Size class | Name | Holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0xEE (238) | Data | Track data unconfirmed | A track’s settings, as a block of binary data. |
| 0xEF (239) | Text | Track name unconfirmed | A track’s name. Stored in the data range. |
These two events are known from FL Studio 20 files. No source records whether versions 9 to 11.4 write them.
Time markers
Time markers label points in the playlist or change its time signature.
| ID | Size class | Name | Holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0x21 (33) | Byte | Time marker numerator | The beats per bar of a time signature marker. |
| 0x22 (34) | Byte | Time marker denominator | The beat value of a time signature marker. |
| 0x94 (148) | Dword | Time marker position | Where the marker sits, in ticks. See below. |
| 0xCD (205) | Text | Time marker name | The marker’s label. |
In later files a position of 134,217,728 (0x08000000) or more marks a
time signature change. No source records when time markers were added to the format,
or whether these versions use the same encoding.
